Carlos Tevez charged with motoring offences in Cheshire
Cheshire Police announced that earlier in the week Carlos Tevez, the forward for Manchester City was charged with driving without insurance and driving while disqualified. If Tevez is found guilty of both charges he could have to face a prison sentence of as much as six months. Other punishments that he might be given by a judge include a fine as high as £5,000, an anti-social behavior order, or community service.
The statement from the police stated that they charged a 29 year old Alderly Edge man with driving without insurance and driving while disqualified. He was picked up at 5:13pm on the Macclesfield A538 and later was released after paying bail. He was then appeared on bail at the Middlewich Custody Suite and was formally charged with both charges. His court date has been set for April 3rd at the Macclesfield Magistrates’ Court.
Tevez was banned from driving in January of this year for a sixth month period after pleading guilty to two counts of failing to provide information about incidents that involved his vehicle speeding. At the time he was charged, Tevez also received a £1540 fine. His solicitor at the time said that the Argentina soccer player did not understand what a constabulary was.
Most likely Tevez will retain the same solicitor, Gwyn Lewis, for this case as well. Lewis has worked with several City players and is a specialist in motoring cases. According to his profile, he is sometimes referred to as ‘Merlin the Magician’ by the City Team because he is able to make worrying cases simply disappear for them. He is also known for his very strong approach to law and motoring cases.
