Supermarkets petrol price war is great news for motorists
When most people need petrol they do not automatically consider the supermarket the best place to fuel up, however, surprisingly the supermarkets have launched a new petrol pricing war that makes the leading brands some of the best places to head for petrol.
Sainsbury announced that as of this week petrol prices are finally going to dive down by about 4p per litre. Diesel is also supposed to drop by 3p per litre. The good news does not end here. Asda also announced that starting this week they will be reducing their petrol prices by as much as 3p per litre and diesel is due to drop by as much as 2p per litre. Therefore motorists should not have to pay any more than 141.7p per litre for diesel or 134.7p per litre of petrol.
Of course, not to be outdone Tesco also announced its own decision to cut petrol prices even further stating that their prices for both diesel and petrol are due to drop by about 3p. Head of fuel Richard Crampton for Sainsbury’s stated that they know that many customers consider fuel to be one of the largest parts of their weekly budget so they are trying to help loosen up the budget a little pit.
Trading director for Asda petrol, Andy Peake, commented that they always drop their prices nationally so that everyone receives a good deal. He added that by putting a national price cap on their prices they have found that all customers benefit instead of just those who happen to live in a lower priced region. Tesco boss Peter Cattell rounded out the group by stating that Tesco will be just as competitive as the other supermarkets and will also be dropping their prices by about 3p.
